OUR STORY

THE BEGINNING OF MAYAN REBIRTH

On May 27, 2010, the Pacaya volcano erupted, followed by several tremors. At approximately 20:00 hours, there was a strong eruption, ejecting  Lava, rocks, Fire and Ash.

This is where our journey begins…

In light of the sequence of events, we decided to turn this devastating act of nature into a constructive circumstance. We needed to find a way to generate resource to further assist the families who lost their homes. This is how our idea came into fruition.

From the very heart of the sacred Mayan land comes this beautiful collection called the “ MAYAN COLLECTION”  The pieces of jewelry are made out of Lava and Coconut shell. It’s truly a collection that embraces the philosophy of the 2012 the beginning of a new ERA, a Rebirth of what is a positive source of energy. Beautifully handcrafted by Mayan hands, this unique collection was inspired from  the Mayan culture in honor  to mother earth , the biggest eruption  in history of the volcano Pacaya located in Guatemala.

PACAYA VOLCANO

Pacaya is a popular tourist attraction. Pacaya lies 30 kilometers (19 miles) southwest of Guatemala City and close to Antigua. The volcano sits inside the Escuintla Department. So far, the last activity reported has been the eruption that peaked on May 27, 2010, causing ash to rain down in Guatemala City, Antigua and Escuintla.

GEOLOGICAL HISTORY

The Pacaya volcano is a part of the Central American Volcanic Arc,  achain of volcanoes stretching from the northwest to the southeast along the Pacific coast of Central America, formed by the tectonic subduction of the Cocos Tectonic Plate beneath the Caribbean Plate. Pacaya lies on the southern edge of a sizable volcanic caldera formed in the Pleistocene age which contains Lago de Amatitlán. This caldera has been the source of at least nine very large explosions over the past 300,000 years, erupting a total of about 70 cubic kilometres (17 cu mi) of magma.

After the last caldera-forming eruption 23,000 years ago, several smaller vents within and around the caldera have seen eruptive activity. Pacaya is the largest post-caldera volcano, and has been one of Central America’s most active volcanoes over the last 500 years. It has erupted at least 23 times since the Spanish conquest, producing basalt and basaltic andesite.

About 1,100 years ago, the volcano’s edifice collapsed, causing a huge landslide. Deposits from the landslide travelled about 25 kilometres (16 mi) from the volcano down to the Pacific coastal plain. The landslide left a large crater, within which the current active cone has grown. The presence of a magma chamber at shallow depths beneath Pacaya means that distortion of the cone leading to instability and future landslides remains a hazard to the surrounding areas.  REFERENCE WIKIPEDIA

HOW WE DO IT?

We searched the country for artisans who had the ability to turn this magnificent gift from nature into gems. Our entire collection is made from the lava . We created treasures out of the lava to honor Mother Nature and offer hope to the people of Guatemala.

To pay homage to Mother Earth, our designs evolve around the beauty of nature. This collection reveals a motif of beautifully hand carved coconut shell against the stunning black lava rock. Nature signifies life, which is very much alive within our concept.

This collection is a momentous reminder that nature is not just part of ourselves, but that we can live in balance with it.

WHO DOES IT

This earth collection is done by mayan hands using techniques passed down from many generations, there are various artisans demonstrating their ability to create art out of the power of nature, that occurred and turned it into unique beautiful art.

This project has now generated income for these artisans, sustaining families and guaranteeing fair-tradevarious artisans.

CAUSES WE SUPPORT WITH YOUR HELP

We are partnering with HABITAT FOR HUMANITY Guatemala, who rely on the involvement of volunteers to fight the common goal of eradicating poverty.

We donate 15% of our profits to HABITAT FOR HUMANITY Guatemala. In keeping with the same synergy, we are also working with local villages that are adjacent to the volcano, such as building playgrounds for the children, taking children that get the top grades to the movies to motivate and inspire them. Many other projects that will help the people that were affected.

As part of our growth, we will continue to work with local non-profit organizations, whose goal is to achieve long-term, sustainable change in the social structure.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

Thanks to your support we are able to implement other social program’s such as this one. We wanted to share these images with you so you can see what this whole movement is all About.

This is a day at the movie’s these are children that got the top grades in their grade and were rewarded by taking them to the movies and to a luncheon, we know this sounds a little Simple but, these are children that their parents don’t have the means to really even take them anywhere.

So this is a way to show them the other face of their country, they can dream and be inspired. Each year we want to take more children around the adjacent villages and inspire and motivate them to continue with their education.

Blessing’s
